Romance is doing something for your significant other that is not asked for or required. It is those moments that make you remember why you fell in love with him/her in the first place. The moments that bring you back to when you were 17 (for us) and you couldn't imagine spending time with anyone else.

I agree with Kyle...gas is never romantic! Although Schlechty could get you far in life, it is not bound to get you far in the bedroom. :)

I'm not sure what romance is but I can tell you what it is not.
1. Romance is not bringing home flowers from the grave yard for your wife on Valentines day.
2. Passing gas in the bedroom.
3. A $2.75 bottle of wine.
4. Letting her Biggie Size it on our aniversary
5. Reading her any section from "Working on the Work" before we go to bed.

Please don't ask me how I know these things are not romantic. Hope this helps. I could use some help in the romance section as well.

First of all, my friend, romance is not a noun. It's a verb. That is, if you are doing it right!
It's leaving endearing post-it notes on the steering wheel (even if you are running late). It's throwing the towel in the dryer so it's warm. It's reminding someone at least one time each day, without exception, that you love and appreciate them. But most of all, it's figuring out what romance means to THEM, and acting accordingly.
And a big "thank you" to Rinehart for the sex comment. That's burned in my brain....

Romance is how you show some one you love them. It's flowers and candy and "our song", but its also true affection, putting some one else's needs/wants/goals first, really listening, dancing when you don't feel like it, honest communication, the ability to be in the moment with that person, building experiences that come with a language that only the two of you share... and if all this ends with great sex,its definitely romance!

Romance to me is being able to look into the eyes of the same man after 30 years and realizing he still makes my heart sing. The emails he sends me with verses to songs that remind him of me and laughing that if our website is monitored, "it's okay, what can they say to us after all we are married!" Planning trips to remote places where only the two of us will be, knowing we will probably never go, but what fun we have dreaming together! Watching our oldest child get married and realizing he was the one crying, then watching and listening to him give the toast and falling in love with him all over again. Having this same man paint my toenails before one of our children was born only to find out later he painted the whole end of my toes! Some people call it love, and it is, but without love can there ever truly be romance?
